A fantasy epic RPG

Disciples: Liberation is a dark fantasy strategy game where you will fight as Avyanna, the main character, and go on quests to liberate the land of Nevendaar. On your journey, you’ll meet numerous companions, build relationships, and form alliances to strengthen your army and uncover endless stories in this war-torn overworld.

This game has an incredibly darker theme compared to the other titles that its developer, Frima Studio, previously released. Most of their games were brighter, less serious, and had more cartoony designs, so this is quite an interesting turn in the studio’s work, comparable to another tactical game, Warbanners.

Highly tactical gameplay

The battle style of Disciples: Liberation is turn-based, with hexagonal grids and obstacles to make things more challenging. Some tiles have hex modifiers— moving to one of those will trigger some effects. Other tiles will turn red, which are areas where lightning will strike at the end of each round. So, you have to strategize and keep away from those tiles, while making your enemies finish their turn there.

You can pick the skill class you want your main character to have, recruit members into your army, and build a base for sanctuary and planning. For your army, you can recruit up to more than 50 units, and combine them in ways that will suit your playing style. When you’re ready, you can challenge bosses or your friends online to test the strength of your party.

The game also has more than 80 hours of single-player campaign mode, where you can take more than 270 quests and unlock five unique endings to the story. So, every choice you make will matter. In terms of graphics, however, the game is very animation-heavy and highly detailed, so it requires at least an 8GB RAM and 64-bit processor and operating system.

A different level of strategy

With the level of freedom Disciples: Liberation gives a player, it will require you to really strategize your moves carefully. One mistake and your alliances and political alignments can change the course of your entire story. Aside from being graphics-heavy and the demanding system requirements, this RPG game can definitely test your tactical skills, so you will never get bored.

PROS
